Being played may not have happened yet, but statistics say it will…

“It never fails, G.L. The moment I post a guy and share how happy I am, he turns around and makes a fool out of me,” was how one email started.

This woman had not one but three cases of “post a man and find out you’re not the only one” happen. The most recent guy was someone she swore was “the one,” so she did an entire photo dump of date nights, a vacation, and the watch he bought her.

The post wasn’t even up for two hours and other women inboxed her. A male co-worker snitched that he knew how her man really got down. Even her goddaughter got a DM with receipts showing her man trying to pull an 19-year-old the day before.

As men, we keep our friends’ secrets, but ask any guy you’re close with, and he’s going to be just as honest as I am:

7 out of 10 men are living secret lives. All driven by this endless lust for new women, that will crush you if you don’t move with strategy.

Being an internet detective won’t save you…

You can do your Google. Scan his social media pages. You can ask the same old questions you always ask on dates. None of that is going to work on men who aren’t sloppy and know how to play the game.

“I know a liar when I see one,” but that’s a problem: when a man is doing everything right during that honeymoon phase, you’re Ray Charles—you don’t see anything but the attention, treatment, and consistency.

A woman’s not “dumb” for sharing her joy and wanting to let her friends and haters know she’s happy. She’s not “wrong” for going public to let other men know that she’s made it exclusive. The mistake you’re making is that you haven’t fully kicked the tires of this relationship and vetted it like a Spartan.

The solution isn’t to hide his face like he’s a sugar daddy and you’re pussy. Every time I see a basica online with a man’s face covered up, I see raging insecurity because they’re not protecting him, they’re admitting that they know he’s for the streets. Hide him all you want, eventually, the messiness will come out, even if you don’t share a single photo of him. The only way to prevent being embarrassed is to go on the offensive against these clowns masquerading as men.

A hard launch should confirm a relationship—not create one.

Before posting a damn thing, exclusivity should have been discussed out loud. You should know where he lives, how he spends his weekends, who his friends are, and whether the important people in his life know you exist and have spent real time with you. If his male friends say, “All he talks about is you,” it’s real. Not his mom who’s playing along or his sister who has his back, but his male friends. Can you honestly look at this man and check those boxes? Or are you “taking it slow”

Sneaky men don’t want to be posted, they don’t want to be tagged, and they’ll use an example that sounds legit, like their career, online data stealing, or the fact that he’s very private.

A truly private man is private about everything. A secretive man posts his vacations, friends, then suddenly discovers “privacy” when your face enters the frame. Watch his patterns before and after he met you. If he’s suddenly “not into all that stuff,” it’s a sign.

Men understand that a public post closes doors on other women. It also complicates situationships or full-blown relationships he may have going on.

If he’s truly your man, don’t just post him to expose him. A liar will always be prepared for that kind of fallout. Instead, do these next steps to turn the tables…
